What academies do you serve?
Atlantic Uniform Company proudly outfits recruits attending academies throughout New Jersey, including Newark Police Division, Essex County Police Academy, Passaic County Police Academy, John H. Stamler Police Academy, New Jersey Department of Corrections Academy, New Jersey State Police Academy, Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute, and Morris County Public Safety Training Academy. If your academy is not listed, contact us. We may still be able to assist you.
Where can I buy police academy uniforms in New Jersey?
Atlantic Uniform Company has proudly outfitted police academy recruits throughout New Jersey for decades. We provide academy-specific packages, professional fitting, customization, and guidance for recruits attending academies across the state.
What do I need for the police academy in New Jersey?
Every academy has different requirements, but most recruits will need uniforms, PT gear, duty boots, outerwear, accessories, and certain duty gear items. Our team helps recruits understand their lists and ensures they are properly prepared before the academy begins.
When should I order my police academy uniforms?
We strongly recommend visiting us as soon as you receive your academy equipment list. Coming in early allows enough time for fittings, customization, alterations, embroidery, and any special orders.
What should I bring to my police academy fitting?
Please bring your academy equipment list, any department-specific paperwork, existing academy or duty gear you may want reviewed, comfortable clothing for fittings, and a payment method or deposit.
Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are not required. Please feel free to call or email ahead and let us know you are coming.
Can family members come to my fitting appointment?
Yes! Family members are welcome to attend fittings and assist recruits throughout the process.
Where should I park?
Customer parking is available behind our store at 468 Washington Avenue in Belleville.
What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Friday 9:30 to 5:30 and Saturdays 9:30 to 5:00. We will occasionally stay open late to accommodate recruit schedules. Please contact us if you cannot make it during regular business hours.
How long will the process take at the store?
Most recruit visits take between 1 and 3 hours depending on the size of your list, fittings, customization needs, and store traffic.
How long will it take to complete my package?
Turnaround times vary depending on customization and product availability. We strongly encourage recruits to visit us as soon as they receive their lists so we have plenty of time to get everything right before the academy begins.
What kinds of payments do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, debit cards, cash, and other standard forms of payment accepted in-store.
Can I finance my academy package?
Please contact our team to discuss current payment options and available programs.
What comes in an academy package?
Academy packages vary by academy and department requirements but may include uniform shirts and pants, PT gear, duty boots, jackets and outerwear, belts and accessories, name tapes and patches, department-specific customization, and duty gear items. Packages can provide savings of up to 20% compared to purchasing items individually.
Does Atlantic Uniform provide everything I need for the academy?
We provide the majority of academy-required uniforms, apparel, footwear, customization, and duty gear. If there are specialty items we do not carry, our team will help point you in the right direction.
What comes in a duty gear package?
Duty gear packages vary depending on academy and department requirements, but may include a duty belt, belt keepers, handcuff case, flashlight, magazine pouch, baton, baton holder, gloves, and other required accessories.
Are all of the package items in stock?
Many items are stocked regularly. If an item is not currently in stock, we will order it and work to complete your package before the academy begins.
What boots are best for the police academy?
The best academy boots combine comfort, durability, support, and academy compliance. Our team can help recommend the best option for your academy’s specifications.
What PT gear is required for the police academy?
PT gear requirements vary by academy, but may include T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and cold-weather PT gear. Atlantic Uniform provides academy-specific PT packages customized to your academy’s requirements.
Do I need a Class A uniform for the police academy?
You will need your dress uniform or Class A uniform for picture day and graduation. We offer a discounted graduation package to our recruits that includes everything you need. Our team will review your department’s specifications and make sure you receive all required items in time for your ceremony.
Do police academy uniforms need alterations?
In many cases, yes. Proper fit is important for appearance, comfort, and performance during training. We provide on-site sewing and alterations to help ensure recruits are academy-ready. Some work can be completed while you wait.
What should I wear to my police academy fitting?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and socks appropriate for trying on duty boots and uniform items.
Can Atlantic Uniform customize my academy uniforms?
Yes. We provide on-site embroidery, sewing, patches, name tapes, hemming, and academy-specific customization to ensure your uniforms meet required specifications.
Do you carry women's academy uniforms and gear?
Most academy apparel is unisex, though we carry certain women's uniform and footwear options and can professionally fit female recruits for academy apparel and duty gear.
Do I need body armor before attending the academy?
Requirements vary by academy and department, but generally you will not need body armor until you graduate. Our team can help determine the right time to order so you will have your body armor by the time you report for duty.
Can I purchase additional items after my package is completed?
Absolutely. Many recruits return for additional duty gear, outerwear, footwear, and on-the-job equipment during the academy and after graduation.
I purchased items online. Can Atlantic customize or detail them for me?
In many cases, yes. We may be able to provide embroidery, patches, alterations, or other customization services on outside items depending on the product and condition. Please be advised there is an additional fee for detailing outside items, and items purchased at Atlantic are prioritized for completion.
What if I have an issue with an item I purchased?
Customer satisfaction is extremely important to us. If you experience an issue with an item purchased from Atlantic Uniform, contact our team and we will work to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
